"Charlie
Wood's Maze" Is
a crazy quilt with a story. I decided upon the theme of person
trying to find their way along life's path. In the first three
of the series I combined the Pima maze idea (also called Elder
Brother's House) and the Navajo wedding basket stairstep design.
The person starts his/her travels downward and to the left along
a strong two-sided stairstepped path. Along the way, the path
becomes less distinct with muddier colors and it splits and
forks to further confuse the traveler trying to get back to
where they started. This is the fourth quilt in this series.
In 1995, I conceived the idea of using this format to document
the life of my father who died in 1997. ©Margaret
